Why Your Child's Sports Academy Abroad Might Be Missing One Key Thing | online athletic training for NRI kidsOneBreath Fitness

Your Child Is Training Hard. But Are They Training Right?

If your child plays cricket, football, athletics or any competitive sport abroad, chances are they're attending practice 2-3 times a week, working on skills, drills, and game strategy with their coach.

But here's a question most parents never ask — who is building the physical foundation underneath all of that?

The Gap Most Academies Don't Cover

A cricket coach teaches batting technique. A football coach teaches tactics and positioning. But sprint speed, explosive power, single-leg strength, and injury resilience — the things that actually separate a good young player from a great one — usually aren't part of regular sports practice.

This is called Strength and Conditioning, or S&C. It's the discipline professional sports teams use to develop athletes, and it's almost completely missing from youth sports coaching, especially for NRI kids training abroad.

Why This Matters More for Young Athletes

Kids who specialise early in one sport without building a general athletic base are more prone to overuse injuries. They also tend to plateau — their skills improve, but their physical output (speed, power, stamina) doesn't keep pace.

The good news is this is completely fixable, and the earlier it starts, the better.

What S&C Training Looks Like for Kids

Age-appropriate strength work — bodyweight and light resistance training that's safe from age 6 onwards.

Sprint mechanics — most kids run inefficiently. Small technical corrections make a big difference in speed.

Mobility and movement quality — keeping joints healthy through a full sports season.

Sport-specific conditioning — cricket needs different power output than football or swimming. Training should reflect that.

How This Works Online

At OneBreath Fitness, sessions are conducted live over video call, 3 times a week, with a certified S&C coach. No gym required — just a small space at home. Parents are welcome to observe every session.

We offer a free assessment session first, so you can see exactly how it works before any commitment.

If your child plays sport seriously, this is the missing 20% that often makes the biggest difference.
